Ava Besharati is a fourth-year Biopsychology undergraduate student at UCSB. She is interested in understanding the neural mechanisms that shape behavior and mental health, with a particular interest in neuroimaging. She is currently developing an independent research project focused on fMRI findings in bipolar disorder and hopes to continue exploring neuroscience through both research and medicine. After graduating, she plans to attend medical school and is especially drawn to the intersection of neuroscience and surgery. In her free time, Ava enjoys cardio workouts and taking long walks with her newly adopted puppy. She is also deeply passionate about rescuing animals.
